Zaro Loop Drive

The Zaro Loop is the main self-drive game viewing track at Vwaza, running roughly 25 kilometres in a rough circuit through the woodland and dambo north and east of Kazuni Camp. The route takes two to three hours at game-viewing pace and gives you a real sense of the reserve beyond the lake — drier, quieter, more typical brachystegia bush.

4WD is essential at any time and recommended even in the dry season. The track surface is rough and often broken; check conditions at the gate before setting off, and carry water and a spare tyre. Animal sightings on the loop are unpredictable but rewarding — sable, roan, and large buffalo herds are the headline species.
