Kani Kombole is a Dogon village south of Djiguibombo, usually reached as part of a multi-day walk along the base of the Bandiagara Escarpment. The village sits close to the sandstone wall, with millet fields and simple compounds opening toward the Seno plain. It is less famous than Teli, but it makes a good overnight halt when you want the rhythm of the trek rather than a quick there-and-back excursion.
The main sight is the village itself: mud-brick houses, shade trees, granaries, and a small earthen mosque that looks entirely at home in the dust. Take your time here and behave as a guest, not as someone walking through an exhibit. A local guide should handle introductions, explain where photography is unwelcome, and arrange food or a place to sleep if you are continuing south.
Security conditions in central Mali can change quickly. Check current advice before planning any Dogon Country trek, and do not attempt the route independently.
