Getting There

Mopti has a small airport (Ambodedjo Airport) with occasional domestic flights from Bamako, though the schedule is irregular and services have been reduced due to the security situation. The most reliable overland route is by bus or shared taxi from Bamako, approximately 650 kilometres and 10–12 hours on a reasonably good road. The journey passes through Ségou, which is worth a stop.

Security warning: The security situation in central Mali has been volatile since 2012 and has worsened significantly since 2021. Armed groups operate in the region between Mopti and the Dogon Country. Before travelling, check current advisories from your government's foreign travel warning service. Many Western governments advise against all travel to this region.
