Amogar is a mountain pass on the ancient Atar–Chinguetti road, a dramatic cleft in the Adrar plateau where the road drops steeply through bare rock before opening onto the erg beyond. The pass itself is the attraction: prehistoric rock art on sheltered cliff faces, and a few kilometres away the ruins of Azougui, an Almoravid-era town that has largely returned to the desert. This is a place for those already making the Atar–Chinguetti journey, not a destination in isolation.
