Dakhla is a predominantly Muslim city and bars serving alcohol are few. The kite camps along the lagoon shore generally serve beer and wine to their guests, but this is a private arrangement rather than a public bar scene. Coffee and tea culture is strong — the traditional Moroccan mint tea ceremony is alive and well, and the French-influenced café tradition left by the colonial era persists in the town centre.
