When to Go

Dakhla is one of the few places in the world where the best time to go is almost any time of year. The trade winds blow reliably from October through June, making this the prime season for kitesurfing and windsurfing. Summer (July–September) brings lighter winds but the lagoon remains warm and calm.

Temperatures are moderate year-round — the cold Canary Current keeps the climate cooler than the Saharan latitude would suggest. Expect highs of 25–30°C in summer and 18–22°C in winter. Rain is rare at any time of year. The main consideration is wind direction and strength, which varies by season; local kite schools will advise on current conditions.
