The lagoon shore south of Dakhla town is lined with kite schools offering everything from first-timers' introductions to advanced coaching. Most operate on a week-based model — daily tuition with the same instructor, equipment included — which makes sense given that any meaningful progress in kitesurfing takes several days. The instructors at the established schools are generally experienced; many are European or South African riders who came for a season and stayed.
Equipment rental without instruction is available for those who already know how to ride. The flat lagoon water makes this a better learning environment than most European or Caribbean spots, and the consistent northeasterly trade wind means cancelled sessions due to no wind are almost unheard of. Sessions typically run in the morning before the afternoon wind strengthens to challenging levels for beginners.
