Getting There

The High Atlas is most easily accessed from Marrakech, which has international and domestic flights from across Europe and Morocco's main cities.

By road from Marrakech: The main gateway for trekking — the village of Imlil — is about 60km south of Marrakech. Shared taxis to the market town of Asni (the last point on the main road) run from the Bab er Robb bus station in Marrakech; from Asni you can take a local taxi up the remaining 17km to Imlil. Grand taxis direct to Imlil can be hired from Marrakech; expect to negotiate a price.

The Tizi n'Tichka route over the pass to Ouarzazate starts on the N9 road south from Marrakech. Buses run from Marrakech's main bus station (CTM and ONCF services) through to Ouarzazate, crossing the pass en route.

For the Ourika Valley: Minibuses leave regularly from Bab er Robb in Marrakech to Setti Fatma; the journey takes 90 minutes to two hours depending on stops.

Organised treks: Many operators in Marrakech's medina and Guéliz district offer guided treks to Toubkal with transport, accommodation, and equipment included. This is often the most practical option for first-time visitors.
