Khamlia sits about 7 km south of Merzouga along a paved road, making it an easy drive or taxi ride. The challenge is the return: taxis do not always pass through, and you may need to arrange a pickup in advance. Ask your guesthouse host to help — most are used to coordinating this.
From Merzouga, a grand taxi to Khamlia costs a few dirhams and takes around ten minutes. If you are coming from Rissani (the nearest town with bus connections), taxis run the 50 km or so to Merzouga, from where you can continue to Khamlia. There is no direct public bus service to the village itself.
The road south from Khamlia toward Taouz is sealed and passable in a standard car. Beyond that, routes toward Zagora or to the mineral extraction sites at M'Fis require a 4x4 and a guide. The village has no petrol station; fill up in Merzouga or Rissani before arriving.
