The medina souks of Meknes are less overwhelming than those of Fez or Marrakesh, which makes them more pleasant to explore without persistent attention. The main axis is Souq es-Sbat, a covered bazaar running from the Grand Mosque to the flea market at Souq Bezzarin. The Bou Inania Medersa (open daily) is nearby — a 14th-century Koranic school with fine carved plasterwork and views from the roof.
