The Nkob palmery is the green blanket that wraps the lower edge of the village — date palms, olives, almonds, alfalfa, and small patches of barley and vegetables, all watered through the ancient seguia system that branches from the wadi above the village. The smaller second palmery a few hundred metres east is irrigated from a separate spring.
A walking circuit through the palms takes about an hour and provides the only real shade in the area. Family plots are tightly worked, so stay on the marked tracks. Late afternoon, when the kasbahs above turn pink, is the best time.
