Safi has a mild Atlantic climate moderated by the cold Canary Current — summers are warm but rarely hot, and the ocean keeps temperatures down compared to inland Morocco. The city averages around 22°C in July and August, which is very comfortable. Winters are mild and wet, with temperatures rarely falling below 10°C.
The best time to visit is spring (March to May) or autumn (September to November), when the weather is pleasant, the light is good, and the city is going about its normal business. Summer brings more Moroccan domestic tourists but the city never becomes crowded by Moroccan standards.
If you are coming for surfing, winter swells from the North Atlantic are most powerful between November and March. Spring and autumn offer more manageable conditions for intermediate surfers.
