A surreal plain of massive boulders painted in bright reds, blues, and blacks by Belgian artist Jean Vérame in 1984. The colours have faded over the decades but the effect is still striking against the dry, rocky landscape. The rocks are easily accessible from Tafraoute — about 4 km south of town. Visit in February when the surrounding almond trees are in blossom for the best contrast.
