Kouré Village

The village itself is a typical Nigerien Sahel settlement: low mud-brick compounds, millet fields at the margins, a handful of small stalls. It is not a tourist village in any self-conscious sense, and that is to its credit. The community's relationship with the giraffes is practical and economic rather than performed — the animals are a source of income that competes favourably with farming or hunting, which is why the conservation has held.

Arriving in the village is where you meet the official guide association. This is also where you can confirm guide fees and get a sense of where the giraffes were spotted most recently. There are no formal visitor facilities — no ticket office, no café, no signage in European languages. Bring water, cash in CFA francs, and a hat.
