Kouré is almost always visited as a day trip from Niamey. The capital, 60 km to the northwest, is the logical base: it has hotels, restaurants, vehicle rental, and the infrastructure that Kouré lacks entirely.
A full day is enough: leave Niamey after an early breakfast, reach Kouré mid-morning when the giraffes are active, spend two to three hours in the bush with a guide, and return to the city by early afternoon before the heat peaks. The drive on the paved Niamey–Dosso road is straightforward.
If you are combining the visit with other Niger destinations — the W National Park to the southeast, or sites around Niamey itself — it fits naturally into a Niger itinerary without requiring an overnight stay at Kouré.
