Akure is a mid-sized Yoruba city without the tourist infrastructure of Lagos or Abuja, but it has a genuine cultural identity and enough of interest to reward a day or two. The Deji's Palace, the Oba markets, and the dramatic calanchi landscape at Idanre Hills make it worth stopping.
