Ado Awaye is one of the more unusual nature excursions within reach of Ibadan. The climb leads onto rocky hills above the town of Ado-Awaye, with shrines, viewpoints, and Iyake Lake sitting high in the landscape rather than down in a valley.
The trip needs patience: access, guiding, and facilities are not as polished as Nigeria's tourism potential deserves. That roughness is part of the current reality, but the combination of hiking, Yoruba sacred geography, and the lake itself makes it a genuine travel POI rather than a local picnic spot.
