Shopping

Ibadan's markets and shopping streets are some of its most vibrant spaces. Bargaining is expected everywhere outside of modern shops.

Local Markets

The open-air markets are where Ibadan comes alive. Expect fruits and vegetables you may never have seen before, handmade jewelry at reasonable prices, and colorful local fabrics. The atmosphere is chaotic and sometimes muddy after rain, but that is part of the experience. Watch for pickpockets.

Agbowo Shopping Center

Located near the city center, this modern mall opened in 1999 and houses shops, restaurants, and an amusement hall. A small store on the first floor sells local jewelry at slightly higher prices than the markets, but without the mud.

Elizabeth II Road and Ogunmola Street

These two streets are lined with a mix of high-fashion designer stores and local shops, shaded by palm trees and dotted with small sculptures. At the end of Ogunmola Street, the Old Quarter draws you in with its energetic sellers.
