Gisenyi Airport (GYI) handles domestic flights from Kigali operated by RwandAir and small charter operators. The flight takes about 40 minutes and is the quickest option. Gisenyi also has a Kigali bus service — the journey takes around three to four hours on a good day, winding through the hills of western Rwanda. Several bus companies run the route from the Nyabugogo terminal in Kigali. By car, the road via Musanze (Ruhengeri) is the most direct and also passes the turn-off for Volcanoes National Park.
