Thiès is not a tourist city in the conventional sense, but it has some genuinely interesting things to see — the tapestry workshop is unique in West Africa, the regional museum is underrated, and the city has a livelier everyday life than many visitors expect. It also makes a practical stopping point between Dakar and the interior.
