Within the mosque complex, the Mouride Brotherhood maintains a library and archive devoted to Cheikh Amadou Bamba's writings — he was remarkably prolific for a man who spent substantial periods in exile and house arrest. His Arabic-language poetry and theological texts run to thousands of pages. The library is not generally open to casual visitors but can sometimes be accessed through a formal request to mosque administrators.
Understanding Bamba's writings gives a different perspective on Touba: this is not just a pilgrimage city built on charisma and legend, but one grounded in a substantial body of Sufi thought that continues to be studied seriously.
