Immaculate Heart of Mary Cathedral

The Immaculate Heart of Mary Cathedral is the seat of the Roman Catholic Diocese of Bo, which was established in January 2011 when it was split off from the Archdiocese of Freetown. The cathedral is a substantial building by Bo's standards, with a simple but dignified interior and an active parish that serves the Catholic community of the Southern Province.

Catholic mission work has been active in Sierra Leone since the 19th century, and the church has played a significant role in education and health care in the region. The cathedral complex includes parish offices and is part of a broader network of Catholic schools and institutions that have served the south of the country for generations.

The building is in the town centre and easy to find. It is open for regular services; visitors are welcome outside of service times as well.
