Lumley sits south of Aberdeen along the long beach of the same name. It is more residential than Aberdeen but has its own restaurant strip and is where many guesthouses and mid-range hotels cluster. The beach is the longest in central Freetown — a 4 km arc of sand backed by a string of bars, music venues, and small grilled-fish places that come alive in the late afternoon.
For visitors who want easy access to both the city centre and the beach, Lumley is a good compromise. Roads connect quickly to the rest of the peninsula and the run south to the better beaches starts here.
