Gabiley is 54–58 kilometres west of Hargeisa on the main road toward the Ethiopian border at Togwajale. Shared taxis and minibuses connect the two towns throughout the day — the journey takes about an hour depending on the vehicle and stops. Ask at Hargeisa's main transport stand for vehicles going to Gabiley or Togwajale; Gabiley is on the same route.
The road is paved and generally in reasonable condition. If you are heading to Ethiopia, Gabiley is a natural stop before continuing to the Togwajale border crossing, another 25 kilometres west.
