Gabiley is not a destination in itself but a pleasant stop on the road between Hargeisa and the Ethiopian border at Togwajale. The town's main draw is its market, which reflects the agricultural character of the surrounding region — you will see produce that rarely appears in Hargeisa's markets, since much of it is grown here. The landscape around Gabiley is worth a look: the Dhul-beereed plateau at 1,450 metres is greener and more temperate than most of Somaliland, and the farmland stretching toward the Ethiopian highlands gives it a different character from the arid terrain of the coast.
