Hargeisa's Egal International Airport has direct flights from Nairobi, Addis Ababa, Djibouti, and Dubai. The arrivals hall is basic — complete a landing card, show your visa at immigration, then change $50 into Somaliland shillings at the bank desk before you can exit. Get your visa in advance; relying on one at arrival is risky.
On departure, expect to pay an airport tax of around $12–30 in cash.
Overland, shared vehicles connect Hargeisa to Berbera (about 3 hours north), Burao to the east, and Borama to the west. The Ethiopian border crossing at Wajale is a few hours' drive south.
