Mogran Family Park

A small amusement park and viewpoint at the actual confluence of the Niles

Mogran Family Park, also called Al-Mogran, sits on the narrow strip of land that points into the confluence of the Blue and White Niles. It is the best vantage point in the city for the meeting of the rivers — you can walk to the very tip and watch the two waters press against each other before they merge.

The park itself is a slightly forlorn collection of fairground rides, snack vendors, and pony rides, more a place for Sudanese families on a Friday afternoon than a tourist sight. Come for the geography rather than the entertainment: from here you can see Tuti Island, the Omdurman Bridge, and the long sweep of the Blue Nile waterfront all at once.
