Kigoma's small football stadium sits on the southern edge of town, towards Ujiji. It is nothing architecturally remarkable — a basic grass pitch with concrete terraces on two sides — but match days, when the local side Lake Tanganyika FC are at home, are a good window onto small-town Tanzanian life. Crowds are enthusiastic, the playing standard varies, and the entrance fee is a few thousand shillings.
Even outside of matches it makes a pleasant detour on the way out to Ujiji. The walk from the centre takes about an hour; a daladala (shared minibus) takes ten minutes.
