When to Go

The southern highlands have a single rainy season from November to April with most rain falling in February and March. The wet months are also when Kitulo National Park is at its flowering peak — a trade-off between muddy roads and the most distinctive single attraction in the area.

The dry season June to October is cool, sometimes genuinely cold (under 5°C at night in June and July), and bright. Roads are reliable and the views are clearest. This is the best general-purpose visiting season. The avocado harvest peaks in October.

Avoid the heaviest rains in February and March if you do not have four-wheel drive.
