The Tanga Yacht Club sits on the headland at the mouth of the bay — a low colonial-era clubhouse with a long terrace looking out over the water and the small mooring of fishing dhows and the occasional cruising yacht. Visitors are welcome on day membership, paid at the door. The bar serves cold Tusker and Kilimanjaro, plain simple grilled fish, and chips.
There is no more pleasant way to spend a late afternoon in Tanga than sitting on the terrace with a beer as the sun drops behind the bay. The club has a few small rooms attached, occasionally rented to travellers.
