Koutougou Village

Koutougou is one of the small farming villages along the eastern boundary of the park, and it offers a useful lens on the relationship between Kéran and the people who live around it. The community here, like many on the park's edge, has been involved in years of negotiation with park authorities over land rights, resource use, and the boundary itself — a conversation that explains a lot about the park's mixed conservation track record.

A short visit, ideally arranged through a guide from the visitor centre, allows for a walk through the village, an introduction to one of the community elders, and a frank conversation about life on the boundary. Bring a small gift, a respectful manner, and a slow afternoon.
