Centre Artisanal

Cooperative workshop where local craftspeople make and sell batik, beadwork and carvings

The Centre Artisanal is a small open compound near the landing where a cooperative of Togoville craftspeople produce and sell wax-print fabrics, batik panels, wooden masks and Vodou-themed figurines, beaded necklaces, and small carved boats. The work is genuinely made here, mostly to good standards, and the prices are negotiable but not predatory.

Drop in for an hour or two and you can watch artisans at work — the batik dyeing is particularly photogenic. The centre runs short on stock by the late afternoon if a tour group has come through earlier, so come in the morning if you want a wider choice.
