Getting There

Chebika is best reached from Tozeur, about 55 kilometres to the southeast via the C114 road. The road is paved and the drive takes about an hour. Most visitors come on organised day tours from Tozeur that combine Chebika with the Tamerza and Mides oases in a half-day circuit; this is a sensible approach, as the three oases are close to each other and the tour price usually includes a local guide who adds useful context.

It is possible to hire a car or 4x4 in Tozeur for an independent visit. The road to Chebika is passable in a regular car. Taxis from Tozeur can also be negotiated for the round trip. Public transport does not serve Chebika directly.

Chebika sits near the Algerian border, which is closed to tourists. There are no facilities at the site beyond the entrance stalls — bring water, especially in summer when temperatures regularly exceed 40°C.
