All international flights arrive at Entebbe International Airport on the shore of Lake Victoria, about 40 kilometres from Kampala. Special hire taxis from the airport cost around $25 (50,000 shillings) into the city; shared taxis are available for much less but take longer. The journey by road typically takes 45 minutes to an hour outside rush hour, considerably longer if you arrive in the evening peak.
Buses connect Kampala to neighbouring countries. The journey from Nairobi takes roughly 10–12 hours; several companies including Kampala Coach and Modern Coast run the route. Services from Dar es Salaam and Kigali are also available. Domestic buses and shared taxis serve upcountry destinations from the main taxi parks in the city centre.
