The Parliament of Uganda stands in central Kampala, close to the city's main government and business district. The building itself is restrained rather than showy, but it carries obvious political weight in a capital where national institutions, colonial-era planning and modern urban pressure meet on the same streets.
Most travellers will see the parliament from outside while moving through the centre rather than enter it as a formal attraction. It is still a useful landmark for understanding Kampala: from here, it is a short distance to Independence Monument, Nakasero, the railway station area and the slope toward the older parts of town.
