Simon Mwansa Kapwepwe International Airport (formerly Ndola Airport) has flights to Lusaka and occasional connections to other Zambian and regional cities. The road from Lusaka takes about 5-6 hours through the Copperbelt plateau. Kitwe is 60 km north. Buses run frequently to and from Lusaka, Kitwe, and the DRC border at Kasumbalesa. The city is close enough to the DRC border that informal cross-border traffic is constant — check visa requirements carefully if crossing.
