Kunduz Airport (IATA: UND) lies about eight kilometres southeast of the city. It is a small regional field with a single asphalt runway, used by the Afghan military and by occasional domestic flights to Kabul and Mazar-i-Sharif when conditions allow.
The airport was a key logistics hub for German ISAF forces during the international military deployment and still bears the marks of two decades of conflict around its perimeter.
