Gelephu is not a destination in itself but a gateway. The town offers little beyond a border crossing and a few functional amenities, but it gives access to the Royal Manas National Park — one of the least visited and most biodiverse protected areas in Asia — and to the Bhutanese lowlands, which most visitors to Bhutan never see.
