Huaibei has high-speed rail connections via Huaibei station, with services north toward Xuzhou and south toward Hefei and Nanjing. The station sits on the eastern edge of the city, several kilometers from the main sights, so a taxi or local bus from the station is needed. Journey times: Xuzhou around 40 minutes, Hefei around 90 minutes, Nanjing around two hours.
Long-distance buses from Huaibei connect to nearby cities in Anhui and Shandong for destinations not well-served by rail. There is no commercial airport in Huaibei; the nearest options are Xuzhou Guanyin Airport (about 80 kilometers north) or Hefei Xinqiao (about 180 kilometers south).
Local transport within the city runs to all the main sights, but the distances involved make taxis the most practical option for visitors without a lot of time.
