Da Dong Roast Duck

One of the best-regarded Peking duck restaurants in the city and the main competition to Quanjude for the title of Beijing's finest. Da Dong's signature is ultra-crispy, very thin skin with a reduced fat content — the result of a modified roasting technique that renders more of the subcutaneous fat. The duck is served with the traditional accompaniments of pancakes, hoisin, scallions, and cucumber, plus a wider range of creative side dishes than you find at the older establishments.

The flagship branch near Tuanjiehu is the most popular; there are several other locations. Expect to pay around 400 RMB per person for a full meal. Reservations are essential on weekends; the restaurant is popular with both Chinese and international diners. The service is attentive and efficient.
