The Hall of Military Eminence is one of the more rewarding side stops inside the Forbidden City. Despite the martial name, the halls are used for the Palace Museum's paintings and calligraphy displays, with works from the imperial collection rotated through the galleries.
Look for it on the left after the Meridian Gate and before the Gate of Supreme Harmony. It is easy to miss if you simply follow the main north-south axis through the palace.
