Run by the Institute of Vertebrate Paleontology, this natural history museum opposite Beijing Zoo is the biggest of its kind in Asia. Highlights are the Mamenchisaurus (the largest dinosaur found in Asia), Caudipteryx (one of the first feathered dinosaurs ever found), and casts of the Peking Man skulls. Good for kids and a relatively uncrowded stop in a city where the headline sights draw enormous queues.
