Gu Mountain, or Gushan, rises east of central Fuzhou and is the city's easiest mountain escape. The usual visit combines a steep walk or cable-car ride with forest paths, viewpoints, and Yongquan Temple on the upper slopes.
Go for the mountain setting as much as the temple. On clear days the views back toward Fuzhou make the climb feel like more than a shrine visit.
