Longnan is not well connected to China's high-speed rail network. The most practical approach is from Tianshui to the north, which has fast trains to both Lanzhou and Xi'an. From Tianshui, buses reach Longnan (Wudu) in about three hours along mountain roads.
From Chengdu and Sichuan, buses cross the mountains from the south through Zhouqu or Jiuzhaigou, giving access from the southeast. These are scenic but time-consuming routes through high passes.
Within the prefecture, local buses and minibuses connect the county towns, though schedules can be infrequent in remoter areas. A hired car or motorcycle taxi is often the practical option for reaching individual villages and scenic sites.
