Detian is in Daxin County, far southwestern Guangxi, about 150 kilometres from Nanning. Direct buses from Nanning run during peak season (summer holidays and Golden Week); at other times, take a bus to Chongzuo and connect from there to Daxin, then a final minivan or motorcycle-taxi to the falls — the whole journey from Chongzuo takes about 2.5 hours.
The scenic area entrance fee is approximately ¥80 and covers access to the main viewing area and the bamboo raft ride. Parking is a short walk from the falls; motorcycles and tourist carts shuttle visitors from the car park.
A small cluster of guesthouses has grown up near the falls, mostly on the road from Daxin, and spending a night is a reasonable option — morning light on the falls is better than midday, and you arrive before the Nanning tour groups. Most guesthouses are basic but comfortable.
