Most visitors arrive in Yangshuo either by the Li River cruise from Guilin (a five-to-six hour boat journey downstream through some of the best karst scenery in the region) or by bus from Guilin (about 1.5 hours, frequent departures from Guilin's long-distance bus station for around 20 yuan). The bus is faster and cheaper; the boat is the point.
From Guilin Liangjiang International Airport, direct buses run to Yangshuo in about two hours. Buses also connect from Guangzhou (seven to eight hours) and Nanning (three to four hours). There is no train station in Yangshuo itself; the closest high-speed rail stations are in Guilin. The taxi from Yangshuo bus station to most guesthouses costs 10 to 15 yuan; the station is on the western edge of town.
