The Yangdi-Xingping stretch of the Li River is the landscape many travellers imagine before they reach Yangshuo: steep limestone towers, bamboo and fishing boats, villages tucked below cliffs, and water bending through the karst. It is one of the most photogenic parts of the river between Guilin and Yangshuo.
Most visitors experience it by small raft, boat transfer, or a combination of walking and local transport. Xingping makes the easier base, but starting from Yangdi gives a stronger sense of moving through the river corridor rather than just arriving for the view.
