Xijiang is about 35 kilometres south of Kaili, in the Leigongshan National Nature Reserve. Buses run from Kaili's main bus station throughout the day from around 9am, taking about an hour and costing approximately ¥15. The last bus back departs around 6pm. Taxis from Kaili cost ¥80–100 for the one-way trip.
The village charges an entrance fee of around ¥60. Accommodation inside the village is available at guesthouses ranging from basic homestays to renovated traditional buildings — staying overnight is the most worthwhile version of the visit, as the village empties after the day coaches leave and becomes considerably more authentic.
