Zhaolin Park is a central Harbin park near the Songhua River, useful year-round as a leafy pause between the riverfront and Zhongyang Dajie. In summer it is pleasant rather than spectacular, with paths, trees, and the easy rhythm of a city park.
In winter it becomes much more interesting, traditionally associated with Harbin's ice lantern displays. The big ice-and-snow spectacles elsewhere in the city are larger, but Zhaolin gives you a compact, accessible taste of the same cold-weather imagination without having to leave the centre.
