Kaifeng is 30 minutes from Zhengzhou by high-speed train — one of the most convenient day trips in Henan. The Kaifeng North station serves the high-speed corridor; the older Kaifeng station handles slower services on the east-west Longhai line. Both are straightforward to reach from major Henan cities. By road, the G30 and G36 expressways connect Kaifeng to Zhengzhou and points east; buses from Zhengzhou are frequent and cheap.
There is no civilian airport in Kaifeng. Most visitors fly into Zhengzhou Xinzheng International Airport and take the train east. The city is also well-connected by bus to Luoyang (about two hours), making it easy to include in a Henan circuit that combines the two cities' very different historical characters.
